Description

This tour includes visit to Dalmatian tourist highlights; 1700 years old Split town with its Diocletian’s Palace and the old town of Zadar After meeting with your private licensed guide / driver in Zadar port your tour begins with a drive to Split. Upon arrival, your tour guide will take you on a sightseeing tour of the old town of Split and the Diocletian Palace. Diocletian’s Palace is located in the center of Split and is on UNESCO’S World Heritage list. This palace is one of the largest Roman buildings which is still in use today.

Your sightseeing tour will start through well preserved cellars of the palace and lead you to Peristyle – a monumental court, which formed the northern access to the imperial apartments. It also gave access to Diocletian’s mausoleum on the east (now Cathedral of St. Domnius- one of the oldest cathedrals in the world), and to the temple on the west (the former temple of Jupiter which is now used as a baptistery).

You will walk through a historical narrow street to the famous Golden Gate and the big statue from Grgur Ninski. On this walking tour you will get to know the old town of Split and its history in an interesting way. You will have the opportunity to enjoy your leisure time along Split’s well known waterfront and go on a shopping spree for some typical suvenirs.

Then we proceed our tour with a drive back to Zadar. Walking along Zadar`s streets the guide will show you the entire spectrum of monuments.  Taking you into the past by retelling the stories and legends you will feel the pulse of the town from past and today`s everyday living.

During the walk you will see the Old City, stop by the Church of St. Donat that lies on the ancient Roman forum bulit from the 1st century BC to the 3rd century AD, Cathedral of St. Anastasia, Sea Gate, Land Gate, City Walls and the Square of Five Wells… At the end of the tour you can take your time listening the unique sound of the Sea organ or possibly enjoy a view of the beautiful sunset.
